Hi, I'm Melinda, interior designer and founder of Studio McQueen. I specialise in creating beautiful yet practical kitchens, custom cabinetry and residential interiors. In my professional design work, I use SketchUp to explore layouts, cabinetry, proportions and finishes before developing designs into detailed documentation for builders, cabinetmakers and trades. I've taken that same design thinking and simplified it into this workshop so you can use the process to make more confident decisions about your own kitchen.

  • Do I need interior-design experience?

    No. I'll explain the important kitchen-planning principles as we work through the design.

  • What version of SketchUp do I need?

    I'm using the Pro Verison, but I'll also show you in Sketchup free how you can upload the template and design in free version.

  • What AI software will we use?

    We try a number of different type of Ai software from ChatGPT, Claude and others that are particularly suited to Interior work. You can use the free versions, but to get best results you may need to spend another approx $30 a month subscription, to finalise and download your Ai Renders

  • Can I use this for a renovation AND a new build?

    Yes — provided you have the measurements or plans needed to build your kitchen space.

  • What if I'd still like a designer to check my kitchen?

    Once you've completed the workshop, you can also book my $888 Kitchen Design Review for professional feedback on your layout, cabinetry, appliances and material direction before committing to construction.
